A.D.D. in the Schools - This page provides links to articles on ADD in the classroom. It also includes a link to the U.S. Department of Education’s Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA )regulations.

A.D.D. Guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics - In May, 2000 AAP issued a revised set of recommendations for ADD assessment. These outline the circumstances and considerations involved in making an accurate ADD diagnosis. In addition to the press summary linked above, a set of complete practice guidelines may be useful for school health professionals.

All About ADHD - This site from Mental Health Net offers a number of good starting points for learning about ADHD, though there is no particular focus on ADHD in schools. Mental Health Net also contains a listing of treatment facilities that might be useful in some settings.

Appropriate School-Based Accommodations and Interventions - Here is a comprehensive listing of accommodations and interventions in the classroom for ADD/LD students. Includes information on student work areas, student transitions, lesson plans/assignments, homework adaptations, testing considerations, student motivation and parent involvement.

"ADD in the Classroom: A Teacher’s Perspective" by Caron L. Mosey - Caron Mosey is a second grade teacher who works with ADD children, provides specific information for both teachers and parents on the topic of ADD/ADHD.

Born To Explore- The Other Side of ADD - Yes! There is another side to ADD. This site by Teresa Gallagher focuses on the unique and creative thinking patterns often exhibited by ADD/ADHD children. The site is dedicated to presenting positive and alternative views of ADHD as opposed to focusing on the neurological brain defect model. CHADD – Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder - Founded in 1987, CHADD is a national nonprofit organization with over 32,000 members that provides support and information to children and adults with ADD and their families. Their site offers information on everything from the latest legislative issues to groundbreaking research to school discipline strategies. Visit the "AD/HD Fact Sheets" page to find tips on effective teaching techniques or to learn how ADD is diagnosed. You can also read news releases on various topics, or check out articles from their quarterly publication, Attention Magazine. A very informative site for teachers and parents.

"The Coincidence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Creativity" by Bonnie Cramond, Ph.D. A Review by Teresa Gallagher - This is a review of Dr. Cramond's 1995 paper which compared ADHD behavior and creativity. The paper suggests that there may be a common temperament which is present in both. In addition to the review, the complete text of the article is also available at this site.

Keirsey Temperament Sorter - Learn how temperament is related to ADHD at this site. Take the on-line Keirsey Temperament Sorter and see how "Temperament typing" can provide insights to behavior.

NIMH on ADD - This site from the National Institutes of Mental Health provides a retrospective review of treatment options for persons with ADHD disorders. There is significant coverage of "multi-modal" therapies for ADHD, as well as a long section of questions and answers. There are also numerous links to other resources both inside and outside the National Institutes of Health.
