Question of the Week

This week's question:
Teachers deserve a great vacation. If you had the choice of an all-expense-paid vacation, which of following would you choose, and why? Your choices: a seven day cruise, a week in a mountain cabin, or a week in a luxury hotel in a big city of your choice.

Here are some of the replies to this question:

This year I went to a resort with a friend for a week and it was nice but we had to schedule our own sightseeing. I think for next summer I will look at a cruise. I want to do something that requires little to no planning on my part! I spend all school year doing all the scheduling and prep work,i want to be pampered for a change!!

a week in a mountain cabin with a huge pile of books, walking shoes, a comfy chair, salad fixings and loaves of homemade speciality breads, and a fresh jug of tea every day.

I work very hard during the school year (High School teacher), often staying 2 or more hours after my contract hours (working with students, creating new activities, grading assignments, etc.) so if I'm going on my ideal vacation I don't want to do anything except enjoy myself, so I would choose a luxury hotel in a big city with lots of history and culture to explore.

My choice would be the BIG city. I live in Northern Ontario so am able to get to the woods often. As well, I went on a cruise this spring (wonderful). However, I do not often get the chance to spend time in a big city enjoying the sights and sounds. Cities are usually very expensive, but so full of exciting things to do so an all-expense-paid trip would be delightful.

I would love to take a seven day cruise. I need to be away from it all, and get a new perspective on life. I'd love to be cruising the Mexican coast, stopping along the shore to buy expensive silver and drink mojitos and margaritas. I'd also love to sample the cuisine of the area and enjoy the Mayan ruins. (I don't want my brain to completely go soft. That's my idea of a great vacation. Away from it all. Di

I didn't even have to think about my choice for an ideal vacation. Hands down, I'd love to spend a week in a luxury hotel in a big city. The idea of being waited on, sleeping late if I choose, lounging around reading a favorite book, yet being able to take in the sights and events of a large city--it all sounds like heaven to me.

If I could have an all-expense paid vacation, I would choose a week in a luxury hotel in Washington DC. I am a history nut and I could get lost very easily in DC touring the museums, visiting the memmorials, the capitol, and the White House. I would spend a day in the Achives looking at the documents that have made an impact on our country.

My vote is for a seven day cruise- being a teacher and a mother of three boys my job doesn't stop when I get home. Someone is always hungry or there is somewhere one of them has to be taken or picked up. On a cruise all of my meals would be prepared for me and there would be no dishes to do. - all I would need to do is get up or not. It would feel like a pampering vacation to me more than the other choices. Besides the ammenities on the boat, there is the water... Ah the beautiful ocean seems to recharge my battery and soothe my soul. This would give me a chance to catch up on reading good books and relax because everything is done for me. A week on a seven day cruise would be just what I need to help me be relaxed and ready to teach again in the fall.

A week in a luxury hotel in a big city... lots to do in a big city and the luxe hotel would pamper me like I'd love to be!!! I would have freedom to come and go as I'd like and enjoy all the accomodations... plus, I could have my phone and computer to use as needed!

If I had an all-expense-paid vacation I would chose a seven day cruise to Hawaii. My reason for chosing this vacation is because I need a break from being in the house or working in yard.

I am a 48 year old women who is a widow and spend most of my time byself. I need a place where I can relax and mingle with other people for a change. Being by myself has been getting me down. I always dreamed of going on a cruise with my husband. Instead he ended up with cancer and two months after getting the news and going through two treatments of chemo he passed away.

Unless I am busy with my students in the classroom I do not think of what might have been. Now, I am on summer vacation with no money due to bills I have to pay and bored out of my wits.

On the cruise I know I will be relaxed, enjoy the company of others, enjoy the music, dancing, swimming, and other activities that maybe provided on the cruise. Not to mention good food.

When we get to Hawaii I would take lots and lots of pictures, learn how to scuba dive and see underwater exotic fish and collect sea shells (if allowed to). Walk and lay out on the sandy beaches of Hawaii.

Most importantly, I hope to gain many more friendships on the cruise.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my short essay.

Sincerely

I would choose a week in a mountain cabin, hands-down!! Somewhere quiet and relaxing where I could just take in nature and the scenery, read a few good books, and look at the stars (and SLEEP!)

If the luxury hotel was in a beaxh city like Waikiki, that would be my first choice hands down - otherwise the cruisw. Anything having to do with the ocean!

I would select the week in a luxury hotel in New York City. My reasons are: 1. I would like to be pampered 2. I would like to attend a Broadway show. 3. Shopping!! 4. Never been to New York.
