Summer is a great time to catch up on reading. What books have made it to the top of your summer reading list this year?

I loved The Graveyard Book, the latest Newbery Medal winner. It was awesome!

It has been an intersting reading mix this summer, sort of a tossed salad! One of my new 1.99 finds is a copy of Professor Feynman's "The character of physical law" which I read in concert with Einstein's "Relativity". Then a great new book was "Engaging 'Tweens and Teens" by Raleigh Philp, and I highly recommend it for anyone working with 12 to 20 year olds! Another great find at the library was "Physics for future Presidents" by Professor Richard Muller from UC Berkley. One cool thing about this book is that the lectures are also available on video podcast from UC-B. A valuable set of work for any adult of voting age today. Enjoy Kevin

Dave Fones - Seymour, IL
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand Common Sense by Glenn Beck Liberty or Tyranny by Mark Levin The Housing Boom and Bust by Thomas Sowell Whatever It Takes by Rick Dufour

Children's author Gary D. Schmidt - amazing, thought-provoking writing.

I teach middle school students and many of them do not like to read, so I have to find books that will reach out to them, a few authors that I have found reach out to those kids who hate to read or think that adults don't know how they think or feel. One of those authors is Jacqueline Woodson - the other is Walter Dean Myers. Woodson's "After Tupac & D Foster" was an interesting read this summer along with Cooney's "Code Orange." On the other side of the coin are the young girls who have suddenly discovered reading through the "Twilight" series, so I read all 5 this summer and am planning literature circles for next year for those young ladies.

I read a kid's book; of course, because I'm a teacher, right! I highly recommend The Cottonmouth Club by Lance Marcum; it's hilarious. The author spent summers in the big town of Pitkin, LA, and in the book, he describes his summertime adventures. It's easy reading and funny.

I previously submitted the title of the book I read, The Cottonmouth Club by Lance Marcum. What I didn't mention was that the setting of this book is in Pitkin, LA, and I live about 85 miles from there. Not only that, but my son & his family live in Pitkin, and the book discusses some places of interest to them.

I am reading the CT Nutmeg Award nominated books. Right now I am almost finished with "Life as We Knew It" by Susan Beth Pfeffer. It is fabulous! Because of the content it is appropriately nominated for the 7th & 8th grades.
